RESEARCH INTERESTS

• Software Measurement and Analysis
  - Creating software data model describing the objects that will be measured and the relationships among these objects
  - Automating personal effort measurement
  - Creating analytic model using past data in statistical/data mining (machine learning) techniques  
• Software Data Quality Management
  - Identifying outliers including noise and extreme data and analyzing causes of these outliers
  - Polishing noisy data and imputing missing data in order to utilize normal attribute values of these data in small software data set

INDUSTRIAL EXPERIENCES 

• 2002.8 - present.    Researcher, ITRC Software Process Improvement Center, KAIST, Daejeon, Korea
  -  Lead the research of the personal effort measurement automation
  -  Designed and implemented the automated environment for supporting quantiative process/project management, which consists of    the following sub-systems: LeadSPI(software process automation system), SymphonyPM (software project management system) and MODEL(software process modeling supporting system)
  -  Made the technical reports and the educational materials in order to introduce and promote CMMI and Six sigma into Korean software  industry.

PROJECT EXPERIENCES

• 2007 - present.   Quality analysis of software project data by detecting outliers, SC First Bank:
  Empirically evaluated the quality of software project data measured during five years by detecting noisy project instance and its noisy attribute using frequent pattern mining. Found human measurement errors by inspecting the detection result with the SPI team members of this company
    
• 2004 - 2005         Development of a framework for the V&V capability assessment, KOPEC:
  Developed this framework focused on the safety-criticality by referring CMMI Verification and Validation related PAs, IEEE STD 1012, RG 1.168 and ISO 9001:2000. This company built the system based on this framework for evaluating the V&V capability of subcontract companies.
    
• 2003 - 2003         CMMI-based gap analysis for the software development process of nuclear power safety measuring control system, KOPEC:
  Performed the CMMI-based gap analysis and appraisal for this standard process with focusing on the practices of verification and validation
    
• 2002 - 2002         Prototype development of Common Operating Environment (DOE), ADD:
  Developed a DII-COE segment process based on R&ITS, MIL-STD-498 and RUP
       
• 2001 - 2002         Consulting on software reuse management, Samsung SDS
  Compared and analyzed the existing CBD methodologies (RUP, Catalysis, Select Perspective and MaRMI-III) with the aspects of the fundamental information, the concept of component and architecture, the notation support, the detail process related to the concept of component and the tool support
     
• 2001 - 2001         Design of the shape steel system, Samsung Heavy Industries
  Designed software models of the shape steel system in UML 1.4 according to RUP
